Luxor: Quest for the Afterlife

The latest release in the very popular Luxor series (more than 400 millions of downloads). The game now packed with brilliant story line with great cinematic. Robbers have disturbed Queen Nefertiti and Akhenaton in their pyramid and have stolen their sarcophagus. During the game process you will chase the robbers in different Eastern countries - you will visit Egypt, Syria and Egypt. The game progress is displayed on a beautiful campaign map.

The game process is similar to the previous games from the series with some small addition (and there is now need to change the formula which has proven its success). There are some new game modes such as Battle Mode and Scarab Swarm. Another addition is artifacts which gave you special power once you've collected all parts of them. Such artifact can prevent enemies from running, locate hidden treasures or unlock new puzzle modes. Random enemy encounters which you will have to battle with is also a new feature. And as always there is a new set of power ups.

Sweetopia implements some new original gameplay twists in a marble popper genre. You will have two different cannons to choose from and the balls now can bounce from the walls! The possibility of ricochet shots makes the game crazy - you can do very impressive trick shots now.

The game takes place at a candy factory. After developing and adding a new secret ingredient to your production strange things began to happen. The candies became alive and crazy Sherbet Sizzlers are flying everywhere at the factory. Your goal is to stop them and recover the control.

Another great addition to classical marble popper gameplay is different type of candies you can shoot. Some of them have special abilities – for example banana bangs explode into three pieces if they hit the wall; marshmallow melts will disappear quickly so you can use them only for close targets. There are also different power ups to aid player – points multipliers, possibility to shoot fireballs and so on.

Svetlograd

You are the fair ruler of Svetlograd. Everything was good - the citizens were happy, the business succeeded but the evil critters had chosen Svetlograd as their target. Your goal is to protect the city from the invaders.

A ballista cannon is setup outside of the city walls and can shoot with different projectiles to eliminate evil imps. Don't let them to get close to city gate or you will lose. The game has a classic Zuma like gameplay but it was extended with many interesting features. The backgrounds of levels are destroyable - you can explode trees or buildings. Another great feature is a shop where you can spend earned points and purchase upgrades for you cannon. There are many different power ups - faster shooting skill, fireball shots, lightning bolts, larger clip and others.

Some of the levels contain hidden collectable relics. The game is developed in a Russian style so the Relics are rather fun - such as Babushkas or Matryoshkas.

Luxor 3

Welcome back to the ancient Egypt in Luxor 3. A young pharaoh is dead and what have he discovered in afterlife? Evil Set's minion are going to steal essences of Egyptian gods. You have to help them if you want to get your pyramid and take a forever rest.

The gameplay and audiovisuals are almost the same as in the previous parts of the series. That means they are really great! The great production values are one of the main reasons of the Luxor success. The developers have added more game modes. There is Onslaught mode, Puzzle, Survival, Crossing the Nile and Treasure Hunter in addition to well-known Adventure campaign mode. Each one provides unique game experience.

Another great additional to the game is purchasable upgrades. The special Ankh coins fall from sky when you complete the level. Grab as many as you can and between levels you can spend them on upgrades. And of course there are some new power-ups in Luxor 3.

The original Luxor game was so successful that it has almost beaten Zuma in sales charts. Inspired by the success of the first part developers have released a sequel - Luxor 2. While there are a very few modifications to classic marble popper game formula Luxor is still over all competitors due to its production values.

Luxor 2 offers 88 new levels with brilliant pseudo-3D prerendered backgrounds in Egyptian style. They are so brilliant that I wanted to complete the level just to see next background. Each level also features a great game design. Audio effects and soundtrack are also good.

There are many different power ups. Some of them are usual - track reverse and track delay but some are unique and have never been implemented in any game. For example a color cloud which colors a group of orbs to the same color or running scarabs who destroy every ball on their path. Another interesting feature is collectable prizes. You will be awarded for many achievements, i.e. completing level without losing a life.

Luxor 2 has three difficulty level so every gamer can choose suitable one.

While at a first glance the gameplay of Dynasty seems to be very similar to Zuma it differs greatly. You don't get balls from nowhere, but take one sphere that is already in a moving chain. Now you can use it to match three or more colored balls. Such a small difference changes the gameplay entirely.

Controlling the Dragon you must help the baby dragons to escape from their eggs. The game has interesting power ups called Super Dragons. While you gain one it will fly over the screen eating random spheres or dropping other bonuses or doing something other useful things.

The game features brilliant production values. You will enjoy the traditional oriental soundtrack, beautiful pre-rendered backgrounds and great voicing.

Atlantis - Sky Patrol plot-line is based on an alternate history of the real world. The universe of Atlantis looks similar to the future worlds described by Herbert Wells. A lot of unique steam powered devices, original machines and so on. Some day more than hundred of deadly devices were discovered. They were located on both of America continents - from Canada to Chile. You were chosen for dangerous mission to destroy them.

The gameplay is a great combination of Zuma and Breakout. You control the ship which can slide horizontally and shoot colored balls. Each level represents one evil device. Each device consists from generator which sometimes throws moving defense mechanism - chain of colored spheres. Your goal is to eliminate all orbs my matching 3 or more of a same color in a row before they will rich an exit. There are also some other mechanism, like closing doors, moving walls and so on which will be used by evil device to protect itself.

There are two kinds of bonuses in Atlantis - device parts and power ups. Power up is usable instantly when you take it. It may be a multi balls shot or a multicolored ball shot or a power up which will rewind the chain and some others. When you destroy a device you can collect its parts and upgrade your own ship with it. There are speed upgrades, shot power upgrades and so on.

After the success of the original Zuma game Pop Cap have released a sequel called Zuma de Luxe. This version has improved graphics with support of 3D accelerators additional special effects and so on. Gameplay have been also improved. Zuma Luxe has two different game modes - Adventure and Gauntlet (Survival).
